Bruce, just to be nosey, in what context did you become aware of Wolfson?

I was interested in Jewish panentheism and authors who wrote about it as scholars and not as advocates.

I am happy to have you contribute although I have to confess I'm not really sure the point you are making.  I have taken a bit of an unplanned hiatus on this thread since I got heavily into the Trinity but I plan to pick it up again shortly.  
I have begun to discuss the concept of the "Son of Man" since he is a major figure in the Book of Parables.  I am using the source account in Daniel and the depictions in the New Testament as bookends to provide a context for a discussion of the figure in the BoP.

"The Son of Man", or in Enoch's book - THAT son of man: And I asked the angel of peace, who went with me and showed me all the hidden things, about that son of man —who he was and whence he was (and) why he went with the Head of Days.

Let me be clear to the core:

we are all sons of men, but Enoch is pointing in only THE ONE, "THAT ONE"... JESUS, WHENEVER HE IS SPEAKING ABOUT SECOND COMING, HE SAYS: "he, him", as 3rd person, and not he, Jesus, himself is that SON OF MAN - he never says "when I come back in 2nd coming" - He was the first one, but the second one is somebody else... and what so called christians did? instead of waiting for Christ, they are waiting for antichrist to appear! that is not going to happen

Jesus only promised to be with them until the end of the century, and that is 1st century, translators forged "until the end of the world. or eon", but that is not the case - his word will remain, but not he, himself, we are the ones who need to take action.

Since the topic is 1st Enoch, you have to be aware that he is not using syntagma in general, as we are all sons of a men, but is underlining THE SON OF MAN, and I am pointing this out because The Revelator is hallucinating about someone who is just looking as him, using the word LIKE: Revelation 1:13. Exactly my point, but since you mentioned later theoretical complications involving one theory JEDP replaced with the other, ... 1st thing 1st: we have to distinguish 2 different sources in Genesis, in order to make a choice: if Eve was made from Adam's rib, then 2nd source "imaginery" - fails, we have to deny it. Also, if one genealogy says ENOCH is KAIN'S SON, ADAM's grandson, then how come the other source claims he is SEVENTH from Adam? And what is wrong with the people being blind about the names in that 2nd source, can't they see those names are plagiats, stolen from the 1st source and crooked? 

To cut to the case: I took Adam's stanza, and there was the time I was alone in the garden listening the One who is the only merciful...

I look forward to reading it very much.  I've touched on the mythology of the Giants a bit already.  As Prof Doak discusses there is a very much obscured tradition behind the OT's occasional mention of the Giants.  And the Book of the Giants is one of those legendary lost texts we dearly wish we had.

Prof Doak got his PhD at Harvard and is professor of biblical studies and faculty fellow in the William Penn Honors Program at George Fox University in Newberg, Oregon.  There's so much evangelistic and occult nonsense out there folks.  Stick with the actual scholars.

Istanbul is quite the city.  I've only been once, which is downright embarrassing considering it's only about 300 miles away. However, now that we're both retired, it'll be considerably easier.  Smyrna (Izmir) and Ephesus are also of great interest as well as Cappadocia, where my wife's grandfather was from.

In my younger world traveler days I once had the opportunity to walk through an open air market in Cairo.  Nothing so grand as Istanbul but I nevertheless experienced total sensory overload.  The sights, the sounds, the smells!  And the voices.   I can imagine what it must have been like in ancient times.  

My understanding is that the healed person would have to first go to a local priest and be declared clean.  Then at some point, yes, they would have to go to the Temple in Jerusalem to make the appropriate offering.  But I'm not an expert so anybody with specialized knowledge please chime in.
