I had asked Prof Ehrman about these Arabic quotations of Papias in his recent blog postings and decided to Google the topic. I came across a book on Google books that appears to be almost complete even though it’s copyright 2013. “Papias and the New Testament” seems to be pretty good from my view and talks about several things I’ve been curious about (who Aristion was or might have been; who the “elder John” Papias mentioned might have been, etc) and includes fragments of Papias. I haven’t gotten that far yet so I don’t know how that section looks. The author teaches at a southern Baptist Seminary, but I’ve yet to see any theology in the book so far which is a turn off for me when I’m looking for scholarly matters.
Here’s the link in case anyone else is interested: ** you do not have permission to see this link **.
