In The Jesus Dynasty, Chapter 18, under the second subheading, James Tabor writes:

“…[Eusebius and Epiphanius] follow with a list of twelve men, who they say ruled over the Jerusalem church in succession down to the reign of the Emperor Hadrian (A.D. 135).  The problem is, we know that Simon himself continued his rule until at least A.D. 106, when he was crucified as a descendant of David by Emperor Trajan. …”

The final sentence quoted seems to me to require a footnote, especially because this is a book intended for general audiences (such as me).

Could someone comment on how “we” know that Simon continued his rule until at least A.D. 106?
