I just got information about the publication of the book by professor Marta Przyszychowska “Macrina the Younger as a Substitute for Eustathius the Philosopher / Eustathius of Sebastea”. The book was financed by the Minister of Education and Science in Poland. It is available at

Marta has a doctorate and habilitation in patrology (theology) and a doctorate in classical philology. The book shows how a literary construct was built around the figure of Makryna the Younger, how this construct was multifunctional depending on the needs of Gregory of Nyssa or the topos of a particular writing by him. I’m reading it right now and can highly recommend it.

Professor Marta Przyszychowska received a state grant to translate and publish all of Gregory of Nyssa’s writings in Polish. 16 volumes in 5 years.
