The Gospel of Thomas Structure
Using Semitic Parallelism (** you do not have permission to see this link ** ), I have discovered that the Gospel of Thomas consists of 21 chapters arranged in a chiasm.
It does not consist of 114 sayings, but 133 wisdom poems. The stanzas of a poem are arranged in either a chiasm or in two parallel columns. Further, the poems in a chapter are arranged in either a chiasm or in two parallel columns.
When read in this ingenious way, the main theme of the Gospel becomes clear: The author leads people out of dogma-based religion to be led only by Spirit. Seven chapters end with the poem: “He who has an ear to listen, let him listen.” Therefore, how to list to Spirit is the main teaching of the gospel.
The book is on Amazon. You can also read two sample chapters here; ** you do not have permission to see this link **
