There really isn’t much to say about this one, but it really intrigued me and I had to share. It’s called the “Alexamenos graffito” and is one of the earliest depictions of Jesus in history, albeit a mocking one. It’s been dated around 85 Ad – 200 AD. The Greek translates to “Alexamenos worships [his] God”. The graffiti depicts a man, presumably Alexamenos, worshiping a crucified figure. The figure has the head of a donkey or a horse which is believed by some to represent a Roman misconception that Jews and or early Christians worshiped some kind of donkey God.
