I came across a free online textual criticism journal today that others might be interested in:

I come across free journals online from time to time, but for me they usually tend towards being too religious in nature and scope. This one I was glad to see had articles written by a couple of scholars who may be Christian, but can still be objectively analytical in their observation. Brice Jones (well-known for his papyrology blog and the guy who brought wide-spread attention to the “work” of Craig Evans/earliest Mark/Egyptian funerary masks) and John Granger Cook who has written the finest book on the practice of crucifixion in the Roman world that I’m aware of, are the two authors in this edition that I immediately recognized. Cook, in particular, wrote a very nice article in this most recent issue on a response of Cyril of Alexandria to views expressed by the emperor Julian, aka Julian the Apostate. (As an aside, Cyril is the only canonized individual I’m aware of who received sainthood because he had someone murdered).

Yup, I like Bryce’s blog. It’s good stuff! Not aware of Cook, but I’ll have to add him to my ever growing list of books to read
