I posted this one because White is my favorite Christion apologist. I watch his videos, well, religiously. White is an astounding example of hermetically sealed religious fanaticism. He has spent decades of his life dotting every “i” and crossing every “t”. He has an explanation for everything which he can access at will. White lives in a world of no loose ends, no ambiguities. He is obviously very intelligent and is, I think, completely honest. (Just for the record, since he makes such an issue of this, I am an atheist and I have actually read his book on the Trinity.)
Now when I say White is completely honest, I mean that he actually believes what he says he believes. This doesn’t prevent him from disingenuity and you will find this video full of ad hominems, smears and attempts to poison the well of discourse. But of course when the righteous are engaged against the forces of darkness no quarter must be given. No tactic too sordid to put to good use. White repeatedly demonstrates the psychological concept of projection. One could make an interesting video lining up White’s criticisms of his opponents with his own acts, done apparently with no self-awareness at all.
It’s probably not possible to “enjoy” this video but it very useful and illustrative of a certain flavor of the true fundamentalist hardcore.
Addendum: In the end I suppose what really fascinates me about White is the absoluteness of his position. One of us is completely delusional. I wonder which one it is. I would just say that I can at least consider the possibility that it might be me. But White’s ideology assures him that he cannot be wrong.
James White is the perfect example of an smart defender of the faith. Scripture-based defense with excellent stage skills. He’s great to watch. He was raising money to debate Bart about Trinity. There were also some problems with the acceptance of multimedia recording and the rights to control it. Either way, the debate did not come to fruition.
Such people are focused on self-improvement. They want to offer others the highest quality of themselves.
And at the same time they are not able to solve relatively simple problems.
James is the antithesis of Father Tadeusz Rydzyk, standing at the opposite end of the stage. This one is a terrible orator, a bad theologian, a simple boy who somehow graduated from the seminary.
But on the other hand, he has its own radio, TV station, university, hotels, geothermal company and many others.
It is impossible to understand the beginnings of Christianity without understanding of such people.
That was painful to watch. I kept hoping he would actually present an argument, any argument, for a specific claim that Dr. E has made, but all I heard were conclusory dismissals. Oh well. An hour and a half I will never get back.

I apologize friends. I suppose I was carried away by my newfound ability to post YouTube videos in this here forum. White really is a despicable sort. For me it is like an ongoing car wreck. I can’t not look away. But I do appreciate how repulsive he does appear. So one more video and I’ll keep my obsession to myself.
White is a hardcore Reformed Calvinist. If you’re not familiar this point of view, they’re the folks who believe in predestination, where an “Elect” is saved and most people damned to Hell, all for the glory of God. Here is a brilliant video essay comparing Calvinism as a thought system to the world view of horror writer H P Lovecraft. The discussion lasts about an hour although the video is longer. Kamil is a classics scholar in the Czech Republic.
