Is He omnipotent? Can He create a rock so heavy that He would not be able to lift it? So if He does it, He defies himself. And if He does not, wouldn’t He be as powerful as He claims?
Is He omniscient? If He does know the future, then He opposes any future act of will into any matter.
Is He immutable? Everything flows and changes. What is not changing is the change itself, so is it, God? And are those two separated beings?
If He is a loving and merciful being, who cares about human suffering, why are you here?
Any of these attributes can create a contradiction.
But logic works in the realm of man that can understand it. We cannot rule out a Being who goes beyond it.
Even if He was impossible, it doesn’t mean He would not be real.
And if He was real, so what?
It doesn’t make any sense because it’s not supposed to make any sense. It’s supposed to pull your consciousness beyond sense. God is a face for that which has no face. The ultimate mystery of being. Best to either not think about it, or think about it so doggedly that you see beyond it, or read ** you do not have permission to see this link ** will work as well as Wittgenstein.)
Poohbear, a creation without a creator is absurd. But maybe the universe is not a creation? Whatever you may have heard the Big Bang is not equivalent to creatio ex nihilo. The response to a question for which we currently have no answer is “I don’t know” not “insert favorite comforting explanation”.
