Adolph Hitler believed the Aryans were a superior race of humans and committed his life to conquering the world to perpetuate the Aryan race and rule as dictator over all. All those who weren’t of Aryan decent and opposed to his plan were either killed, incarcerated or forced to work as slaves for the Aryan movement.
Yahweh called the Hebrews “his “chosen” people. He commanded them to perpetuate his commands and ruled them as a dictator would. He gave them laws to live by and any person or group who did not comply were punished – sometimes even unto death. He gave specific orders to kill, incarcerated or force to work as slaves any who were not Hebrews his chosen people.
The very words of Yahweh to the Hebrew leaders is abundantly clear regarding this. Just read Deuteronomy 20 & 21 and Numbers 31 to see for yourself. Here is an excerpt from Deut 20:
10 When you march up to attack a city, make its people an offer of peace. 11 If they accept and open their gates, all the people in it shall be subject to forced labor and shall work for you. 12 If they refuse to make peace and they engage you in battle, lay siege to that city. 13 When the Lord your God delivers it into your hand, put to the sword all the men in it. 14 As for the women, the children, the livestock and everything else in the city, you may take these as plunder for yourselves. And you may use the plunder the Lord your God gives you from your enemies. 15 This is how you are to treat all the cities that are at a distance from you and do not belong to the nations nearby. (Deut 20)
Make note of verse 15 – as Yahweh tells them this is how they are to “treat ALL cities.”
Here is an excerpt from Deut 21:
10 When you go to war against your enemies and the Lord your God delivers them into your hands and you take captives, 11 if you notice among the captives a beautiful woman and are attracted to her, you may take her as your wife. 12 Bring her into your home and have her shave her head, trim her nails 13 and put aside the clothes she was wearing when captured. After she has lived in your house and mourned her father and mother for a full month, then you may go to her and be her husband and she shall be your wife. 14 If you are not pleased with her, let her go wherever she wishes. You must not sell her or treat her as a slave, since you have dishonored her.
Did you get that? These girls were taken from their parents (who were probably killed in front of the them) in a most brutal way and forced into marriage with the one who probably killed their parents. (We can assume with some certainty that these girls were not yet married because it says they were allowed to mourn their “father and mother” – not their husband and also by the “rules” that were given in Numbers 31:17) The girls were stripped of their cloths and had their heads shaved. (But God was nice enough to give the traumatized girls 30 days to get over what had happened) After 30 days the man (their captor) was allowed to have sex with them and then make a decision about their future. If the man was “pleased” with them he could force them to continue to be a sex slave/wife and bear the captor’s children. If he was not pleased with them he would throw them out the door. We may assume by “pleased” that the girls didn’t scream, cry or resist as much when being raped. BTW – the girls were “dishonored” because they had had sex with a man and then been rejected and discarded like a piece of trash. If this is not the most heinous crime against innocent young girls I don’t know what is. And it was exactly what God/Jesus/Holy Spirit ordered.
Here is an excerpt from Numbers 31:
17 …And kill every woman who has slept with a man, 18 but save for yourselves every girl who has never slept with a man. (Numbers 31)
If this is not enough to put God/Jesus/Holy Spirit in the same category as Hitler then tell me what is?
Does this type of behavior is similar to ISIS?
And if, as most Christians do, believe Jesus is God incarnate, that makes Jesus an integral part of these actions. Like the trinitarians say – Jesus was there with/as God since the beginning. Looks like Jesus/God wasn’t quite as caring, compassionate and loving as he put on.
How does one justify in any way what God/Jesus/Holy Spirit perpetuated against non-Jews? And how does one worship a God/Jesus/Holy Spirit who did such things?
You bring up an interesting and important point about not only Yahweh’s rather deranged brutality, but Jesus’ implication in the madness of what we read in the Old Testament. In this post will be profound cosmic Truth regarding this; Truth that Christianity (which does not understand the big picture of what its own Bible is revealing) simply cannot grasp. Let us see Christ’s own teaching as recorded in the NT:
11 For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted. (Luke 14)
Why could Jesus teach this with authority? To answer this, it must be understood that Yahweh is NOT introduced in Scripture until Genesis 2:4. The TRUE benevolent Source Creator is the God of Genesis 1; the God who created everything as good, including all of the trees. But in Genesis 2, we read that Yahweh created the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. (Genesis 1 and Genesis 2/3 must not be harmonized! There are important revelations in the differences.) And of course, after the creation of that tree of duality, everything that was originally created as good became corrupted, and remains as such even unto today.
Why does it remain that way? Because people (particularly Christians) do not understood the truths that we are talking about here. Christians are correct in claiming Yahweh of the Old Testament to be Jesus of the New Testament. But let us think on this: Whose “fault” ultimately was it that creation came off the rails? As we have just shown, it was Yahweh’s “fault.” Remember, the true Source Creator created everything as good; it is Yahweh who introduced evil. (In Isaiah 45:7, Yahweh himself confesses to creating evil.)
To make an incredibly long and misunderstood story short, as all “sin” ultimately was manifested because of Yahweh, and because the perfect creation became corrupted through Yahweh, it was decreed that Yahweh must incarnate into human form to make amends for this. This he of course did as “Jesus,” who “died for the sins of the world.” Can you see that all of the world’s sins were “put on Jesus” at the cross because in His own pre-incarnate existence, as Yahweh, he brought about sin?
Furthermore – of course, all through the Old Testament, we see Yahweh exalting himself. (And the world became a bloody mess for it.) Do you now see why Jesus said that those who exalt themselves would be humbled? He taught this tenet because He Himself was experiencing it! He was humbled merely by first incarnating into earthen form, and then most completely at the cross.
All of this shows us that the “Father” that He speaks of in the Gospels is NOT Yahweh (He Himself was Yahweh), but the Father is the benevolent Source Creator Elohim of Genesis 1!
Now, it must be understood that the Bible does not put all of this into readily understandable form, and for 2,000 years, Christianity has most certainly not understood it. But we are now entering a paradigm in which long-hidden divine Truth is being revealed. (All of this may need a re-reading to fully grasp.)
Well Hitler is one up on Yahweh in that he actually existed. It’s Yahweh’s apologists we should be wary of. Interestingly never met a Jewish person who thought Yahweh was anything but a psychotic bully. (I’m sure some exist.) It’s mostly the Christian fundamentalists who are forced to rationalize all this mayhem.
Yahweh and his followers are perfect representatives of Bronze Age morality. Take an example from a different but relevant tradition. Homer. If you remember the Iliad from school, Achilles gets pissed off and withdraws his troops from the siege of Troy because Agamemnon seized Princess Briseis from him after Achilles had taken her as a slave after wiping out her entire family. She was war booty. Agamemnon wanted her as compensation for losing his own female war booty in a deal to appease the gods and halt a plague. When we read this kind of thing we shake our heads at those wild and wooly Greeks but no one really gets upset because outside of a few academics, no one considers Homer’s writings to be scripture.
But if your god is Yahweh and his story is taken from the Hebrew Bible and you consider that inspired scripture you got to do some fast talking. The rationalizations tend to wind up with an idea that has come to be known as Divine Command Theory. Yeah they call it that. Whatever god does is good. And you do whatever he tells you to do. It’s not hard to see the implications of such a belief. If you are convinced that you are doing god’s will then you are capable of literally anything, no matter how horrific.
Fortunately it turns out the Conquest of Palestine turns out to be legendary. All the evidence is that the Israelites were originally indigenous Canaanites who separated themselves out from their neighbors by religious and cultural practices. When it came time to create an origin story for their people they must have been under considerable pressure to prove that their god was a badass too.
