Someone said she would listen to almost any book by a given book narrator.

I decided to check that out.

I found Holy Bible, Volume 5, Deuteronomy

Narrated by Jonathan Davis

I think Jonathan’s voice is pleasant.

Surprisingly, I’m not as impressed by Scott Brick:

This is the narrator that my source likes a lot: George Guidall

Here is a sample of him reading The Holy Bible

A good actor can make utter nonsense sound like plausible dialog. (Think Alec Guinness as Obi Wan in Star Wars.) I am not sure that the same applies to narration, but perhaps it does in a more limited sense.

** you do not have permission to see this link ** Actor David Suchet reads the Gospel of Mark.  He uses the reading where Jesus gets angry at the leper and bless him he ends at 16:8!  In the video Mr Suchet first appears at 4:20.  The actual reading begins at 8:45 although Suchet’s own intro to the gospel is worth hearing at least once.

Marvelous!

Whatever you do, don’t get the narrator for the Curse of Oak Island. I have gotten to the point that merely hearing his voice annoys me. Mostly, he just chimes in every few minutes to give a long statement with a question mark thrown in at the end (as if that makes it okay). Of course, to be fair, Laurence Olivier and Richard Burton probably could not make that nonsense sound like something reasonable.
