Be well friends. I am enjoying this Christmas more than I have for many seasons.

An Egyptian blessing from the 18th dynasty –

May the gods stand between you and harm in all the empty places you must walk.

et in terra pax hominibus bonae voluntatis.

(Of course one of the lines I love the most from the NT is a mistranslation of an interpolation.)

Christmas is a time for remembering Jesus’ birth. I’m keeping Him in mind with all that I’m doing. This blog makes it
so easy to do unto others… simply with a click or two. Let’s make Christmas donations!

Merry Christmas!

The posts written and the books recommended have made the early days of my retirement all the more interesting.

As a child, my family would visit relatives and friends on Christmas Eve. We would all pile into the family car — mom and dad, my sister, brother, and I. Once we all got in, my dad would always realize he had forgotten something – his keys, his billfold, or whatnot – and he’d have to go back in the house to retrieve that essential.

We never made it home before midnight, by which time, we kids were all asleep in the backseat. And when mom and dad roused us and we trudged through the snow into the house, Santa had arrived, thanks in no small part to our dad’s annual case of forgetfulness.

Maybe the best thing about Christmas is the fond memories it evokes, memories as warm as any Christmas fire.

Merry Christmas, all!

I’m meditating today on the thought that the transcendent breaks into history each time we act selflessly.

So merry Christmas all; and with all the holiday busyness, don’t forget to take your medications.
