Correction to Title: Precedent, not Precedant

Again, a book is published with a faulty title. Jesus Was Caesar by Carotta.
Jesus was not Julius Caesar.

There are elements of Julius Caesar’s biography that are found in the Gospels.

Julius Caesar was elevated to divine status after his violent death.
Jesus was elevated to divine status after his violent death.

Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John did not write the gospels because they are not expected to have read the Works of Josephus.

Matthew, Mark, Luke and John did not write the gospels because they are not expected to have cared about the biography of Julius Caesar. They are not expected to have been able to read Latin.

= = =

Michael Hoffman, reviewing the book on amazon writes:

Carotta’s book provides a major valuable contribution to recovering the history of formation of the Jesus figure by providing a thorough inventory of the parallels between the divinized Julius Caesar figure and the gospel Jesus Christ figure. His contributions abruptly halt there. The Jesus figure was skillfully and deliberately crafted as a strategic modification of the divinized Caesar figure.

Julius Caesar was betrayed by Brutus.
Jesus was betrayed by Judas.

A sound explanatory framework for the data Carotta discovered — the parallels between the figures of Jesus and Caesar — is that the Jesus figure was deliberately and strategically crafted as a figurative and allegorical response, understood and recognized as a figurative response, to how the divinized Julius figure was used for the Roman imperial sociopolitical system.

= = =

My response to Michael Hoffman:

Your last statement is too wordy. I do not understand what you mean. Let’s try:

A sound explanatory framework for the data Carotta puts forth is that the Jesus figure was crafted, understood, and recognized to be a great Roman figure overlayed upon Jewish History via a manufactured biography of Jesus.

Veritvs, commenting on Michael Hoffman’s review writes:
Sir, Are you saying Christianity was purposely fabricated by the Roman politicals for Roman cohesion.

My response to Veritvs:
…after the Jewish defeat of the Jewish Revolt. …Now, Paul may have been stumping for Julius Casear … Apparently, the cult of Julius Caesar had content. Once the Jews approached Rome for help, they opened Pandora’s box and the Julian cult could spread, mystically and theologically into Judea. Yes, the son of Caesar and Cleopatra, Caesarian (later killed by “Rome” by Augustus) went to Jerusalem. –You know, I have to check what came first, did Caesarian go to Jerusalem after or before Rome got involved with settling the Hasmonean-Herodian dispute?

= = =

With the Julius Caesar overlay, Christianity was more palatable for Constantine and anyone else who advanced the religion. Christianity, hand blocking mouth, religion of Julius Caesar with the Flavian emperors thrown in. “The Flavian emperors?” Come on, man, do you really think Rome would endorse a first century Jew who died violently and became divine? Josephus took away his Bethlehem Star Prophecy and the Star Prophecy was attributed to Vespasian, the first of the Flavian emperors.

Both bodies had been pierced, Julius Caesar’s body had been pierced multiple times, Jesus’ body had been pierced once.

The Pieta is not Jesus on the lap of his mother,
it is Caesar on the lap of his third wife, Calpurnia.
That is why “Mary” looks to be too young to be Jesus’ mother.

Caesar at his last supper (Brutus in attendance): “The best death is the sudden one.”
Jesus at his last supper (Judas in attendance): “What you do, do it quickly.”

They died on the same day: March 15 and Nisan 15.

My correspondence with Carotta

Steefen, author of The Greatest Bible Study in Historical Accuracy, First Edition

Subject: Biblical Jesus died in April. Julius Caesar died in March.

Please explain why you’re saying Nissan is March when Passover cannot happen that early.

Great movie: Gospel of Jesus. Thank you! I have been sharing it.

Here’s the author’s response about March 15 and Nissan 15 being the same day.

Francesco Carotta, author of Jesus Was Caesar

Because
a) the Romans identified Nisan with March, cf. Fasti Polemii Silvii: Martius […] vocatur apud Hebraeos Nisan […], Degrassi, A. (1963). Inscriptiones Italiae. Roma.p. 266.

b) the Church Father Tertullian tells us, that Easter originally took place in March: Cf. Tertullian, de jejun.14: pascha celebramus annuo circulo in mense primo. [March was considered the first month of the year, which began originally not in January but in March, as the names for September (= the Seventh month), October (the Eighth month), November (the Ninth month) and December (the Tenth month) prove, which can only be that if beginning to count by March]. Patently was Easter originally no moveable holiday, but a fixed one, taking place in March = Nisan.

Thank you for the appreciation of the movie, that I will forward to the director, Jan van Friesland, and the composer, Arne Eickenberg.

Ciao.

= = =

Later I looked up the meaning of Nisan

(in the Jewish calendar) the seventh month of the civil and the first month of the religious year, usually coinciding with parts of March and April.

Now for Christian tradition, not the gospels.

On the day before the murder of Julius Caesar, his wife thought her husband was stabbed in her arms.
The Pieta is a statue of a woman holding on her lap, a dead man who has been stabbed–she is too young to be his mother.

Longinus stabbed Julius Caesar.
St. Longinus stabbed Jesus Christ.

Brutus urged Caesar to go into the theater of his death.
Judas brought Jesus into the theater of his death.

= = =

Caesar hestitated for a long time whether to stay at home and put off what he had planned to do in the senate [Jesus agonized in the Garden]; but, at last, urged by Decimus Brutus not to disappoint the full meeting which had for some time been waiting for him, he went forth almost at the end of the fifth hour.

If Julius Caesar were to be assassinated, the commonwealth would have no peace, but was plunged in civil strife under much worse conditions – Suetonius

If Jesus Christ were to be killed, Judea would have no peace, but did plunge into civil war before and during the Jewish Revolt.
