It’s easy to see the connection between Capitol Hill and the Mount of Olives.
In 2 Samuel 15:30, King David climbed up the Mount of Olives, weeping with his head covered and barefoot. All the people with him covered their heads too and were weeping as they went up.
Trump in “Save America Rally” told supporters to “stop the steal” of the election. Calling the outcome of the election: “this egregious assault on our democracy,” he said his supporters should “walk down to the Capitol.” He told them to head to the Capitol to demonstrate against Congress certifying President-elect Joe Biden’s victory.
“Fight for Trump! Fight for Trump! Fight for Trump!” People shouted.
After Jesus prayed, Judas Iscariot arrived with a mob of soldiers, high priests, Pharisees, and servants to arrest Jesus.
Judas identified Jesus, kissing him, and gave Jesus to them. Trying to protect Jesus, Peter drew a sword and attacked a man named Malchus cutting off his ear. Jesus scored Peter and mended the man’s ear, exposing the miraculous power of God. (Luke 22:51)
Hundreds of the president’s supporters stormed the Capitol – where lawmakers were meeting to confirm Mr. Biden’s election victory – and staged an occupation of the building in Washington DC.
Both chambers of Congress were forced into recess, as protesters clashed with police and tear gas was released. (1)
Trump asked Capitol Hill protesters to “go home in peace.”
“This was a fraudulent election, but we cannot play into the hands of these people. We have to have peace.”
Nevertheless, the mob arrested Jesus and took Him to face trial, while the disciples scattered in fear for their lives.
