Mythicism at the highest level.
Myticism was unlucky. In the second half of the 19th century, it was developed in the academic community by a few but outstanding historians. And Robert Wipper was certainly one of them.

Unfortunately, Friedrich Engels dragged mythicism into the banners of high politics and this caused it to be covered with red paint and no longer be taken seriously. Communists did not develop mythicism. They recognized mythicism as revealed truth, as dogma. And that was the end of mythicism.
Wipper avoided communism until World War II because he escaped from Soviet Russia to Latvia right after the revolution. Stalin occupied Latvia in 1939, which he formalized in 1940. He was a fan of Wipper’s books, which ensured the scientist’s safety.
I don’t know what’s available in English, but if you find something, I recommend it.
