Great question; wish I had a good answer. I’ve always suspected that some of them eventually evolved into Kariate Judaism, which accepts the written Torah but not rabbinic authorities and the oral Torah as codified in the Mishnah and Talmud, but no one can really say for sure if this was a continuous evolution or merely a later, independent but similar innovation. In some sense the Karaites are comparable to Protestants in the Christian tradition, accepting the core scriptures but not any authoritative traditional interpretation.Would love to know more; let me know if you come across anything worthwhile on this question.
I hope this isn’t considered ** you do not have permission to see this link **, since this post is from October, but I just wanted to chime in that this is indeed something that I had also wondered if there was a genetic connection between Karaism (יַהֲדוּת קָרָאִית) and the Sadducees. This is definitely something to keep an eye open for. Thanks for bringing it up!

There are no dead posts on these forums, merely ones that are currently neglected.
