Hi! I believe Dr. Phillip Bostrom has the right date for Abraham’s presence in Ur – they recorded the first entrance of shepherds beyond the city wall in 1750 BCE. And that date overlaps with the Canaanite-origin dynasty of “god-kings” in Avaris, Egypt, founded by Yakbim (in 1805 BCE, per Dr. Ryholt):

The Egyptian Pharoahs had a *separate* kingdom where they ruled simultaneously. The Canaanite dynasty adopted the Egyptian traditions, and so also claimed to be “The Living [Insert God-name Here]”: The Living Seth, The Living Horus, The Living Montu.
So I’m wondering how much it is commonly accepted that the narrative of Abraham is basically rejecting a Sumerianized worldview for an Egyptized one?
• Rejecting the triad of Sun, moon, stars represented by Shamash, Sin, and Ishtar.
• adopting the worship of a god embodied by a human
•in a form of monolatrism/henotheism. Apophis (Hellenized name anachronistically), another of this dynasty, is purportedly the first to declare it.
•rejecting idols – they also often served as territory markers and property deeds of an urbanized civilization whose texts regularly voiced their own rejection of Semetic-speaking shepherds.
•circumcision would be a uniquely Egyptian identifier
Between the Mesopotamians and ethnic Egyptians, it would likely be the Canaanite dynasty who would be most favorable to granting Abraham grazing rights.
After this Canaanite-origin dynasty come the “Hyksos”. I believe there’s a strong case for including Jacob here. One reason is, they also have Heliopolis (On), where Joseph marries the High Priest’s daughter. Once the Delta is integrated into the Egyptian Empire, Ahmose remands the rebelling families back to Canaan. Note Aahmose’ name, because it has a form of Yah/Iah/Aah as a theophoric element.
Later, the “Ruler of Foreign Lands” role reappears as “Overseer of Foreign Lands”.
And how far back did Egyptization go? “The discovery of an Egyptian-style tomb at Tel Halif in the Negev Desert suggests an Egyptian colonial presence in southern Israel ca. 3000 B.C.”:

Eventually the North’s empire-building circle grows and overtakes Egypt. How much does the Hebrew Bible being written under anti-god-king Persian administrations affect its description of Canaan’s past with Egypt?
