Hello Bart:
I’ve heard of your work, and searched it out myself. I really enjoy this format for communication – and I enjoy participating now.
You expressed mental processing that is exciting my mind to compete. Pardon my bias toward “narcissism’s drive to win” and I would love to engage.
The challenges for me personally as numerous, and I hope that I can be a positive inspiration to greater understanding that bends me into humility about how little I understand.
As to your story, I just hear the highlights – I almost went there (“to doubt veracity”) with Scott Barchy at UCLA; but I resisted the logic that I could not fathom from CH DODD, and called Barchy a heretic in a seminar. We had a nice chat afterward, and he wrote me a letter of rec.
Anyway, I had my own “series of crash and burns” (aka mid-life crisis); but “mercy” in that God didn’t kill me immediately for all the violations I was guilty of … made me appreciate that the cultural guardrails I “was taught to fear” were likely more like the edges of the parking lot I was driving my Lambo in!
I got that bitch to fifth gear, and I am flying now.
Have a great day, and I would love to connect.
Here’s an “off the cuff” working definition of ideas connected to the concept we call “bias” –
BIAS – a person’s perception of the world, based on her/his experiences, reconciled in her/his “central control center” as best as possible under given circumstances of that one’s existence.
It’s one’s view of her/his own life and how she/he “makes sense” of this complexity called living on the third rock from our local sun in this “ever-expanding cosmos” (as Einstein’s work led to).
Today, there are close to 8 billion of these “massively complex matrixes” called “biases” in the world today, let alone all the “biases” that people scribbled in words that we can read now.
Each soul “survives” to the best of their ability according to what they “bias”!
When you are interested, I wrote more on my blog at AdvancingGodsKingdom.org. This is the new website I am developing for Advancing God’s Kingdom, a 501c3.
