Correction: Daniel, DSS, Jn the Baptist, Jesus, Paul – Apocalypticism Promises of Hope Fail
With Jewish Apocalyptism being about Preparing the Way of the Lord, Judgement, Tribulation, and a Glorious Kingdom ruled by the Son of Man, there is much judgement going on before John the Baptist and Jesus.
Isaiah
First Isaiah (Chapters 1-39, 740-700 BCE)
Deutero-Isaiah, disciple/disciples of Isaiah, ( Part 1, Chapters 24-27, 500 BCE)
Deutero Isaiah, disciple/disciples of Isaiah, (Part 2, Chapters 33-35, during or after the Babylonian exile
Trito-Isaiah, school of Isaiah, (Chapters 40-55, prior to and after Babylon was conquered by Persia
Trito-Isaiah, school of Isaiah, (Chapters 56-66, after 538 when Babylon was conquered by Persia)
Jeremiah (650 BCE – 570 BCE)
Fall of Jerusalem (586 BCE)
Setting of the Book of Daniel (during the Babylonian Exile, March 16, 597 BCE to 538 BCE)
Ezra (the father of post-Babylonian Exile Judaism) (480-440 BCE)
Nehemiah (governor of Persian Judea) (465-424 BCE)
Malachi (465-440 BCE, as he lived during the era of Ezra and Nehemiah)
Zechariah (520 BCE)
After paying attention to the Book of Isaiah, 53:7 to the end, we learn that a New Jerusalem, glorious kingdom was described.
Bart, Was Jerusalem under Herod the Great the New Jerusalem?
If not, did the New Jerusalem ever manifest?
In the gospels, there is another glorious kingdom, this time ruled by the Son of Man.
If Isaiah’s New Jerusalem kingdom did not manifest, we should have been cautious in our faith that Jesus’ kingdom ruled by the Son of Man would not manifest.
