What scholarly information exists about the “lost years” of Jesus?
I have read that there are some documents that refer to his spending time in India.
Are there any reliable sources?

This should be in the Historical Jesus category.
. . we have no reliable data for his lost years from childhood to adulthood.
that is correct but Meier presents scholarly best guess on what growing up might be like for son of a carpenter in Nazereth who like his brothers all are named after Jewish forefathers, deciding how likely it would be that he received biblical training and/or any kind of reading writing (which might be required of a tradesperson) etc
as a spoiler he [Meier] doesn’t consider/mention any possibility of Hindu training

Following the story where Jesus told his parents they should have looked for him in the temple, there is a gap in the historical record of some decades. Jesus was sent to the furthest reaches of the Roman Empire: England. There, he began his ministry before returning to Palestine. Hence, the Church of England is the true church of Jesus Christ, not the Roman Catholic Church in Rome.
And did those feet in ancient time, Walk upon England's mountains green: And was the holy Lamb of God, On England's pleasant pastures seen!

If you’re looking for leads on scholarly research about Jesus’s lost decades, I suggest you try the Church of England, and begin your conversation with the historical background to this song. If they sang it at a Royal wedding, then it is most certainly mainstream.
