trancendent God is ageless, timeless and does not begin to exist anywhere.
surely when the authour of daniel identified God as “ancient of days” he thought of God as an aging god?
days possesses the word “ancient” yhwhs days are ancient ?
this then explains why “ancient of days” is seen like a granfather figure, he really is an aging god.

Too much of this conception is based on a personified god, imagined through man’s limited frame of reference. One more sophisticated idea is that time itself is an aspect of creation and that a god who created everything would be outside of time, and thus any concept of aging would not apply. I also think we need to consider the ancient veneration of our ancestors, which would include parents and grandparents. Age was often seen as a sign of wisdom.

In the Judeo-Christian tradition, the deity Yahweh is often portrayed as an old man. One of the epithets used of Yahweh in the Hebrew Bible, the Ancient of Days, is a source for this depiction of God as elderly. However, when we look closely at the early traditions of biblical Israel, we see a different picture: God is relatively youthful, a warrior who defends his people. This book is an examination of the question How did God become old?
