Hi, Robert. As it happens, my dialogue-partner pointed to Testaments of the Twelve Patriarchs as an example of a Jewish-Christian writing which ascribes Aaronid descent to the Messiah.
This seems to be a Jewish text into which Christians may or may not have interpolated material (the matter is disputed among scholars). I read it just now and it did point to both an eschatological priest from Levi and to an eschatological king from Judah, who sometimes seem to be separate individuals, and sometimes both are identified with Christ.

As much as Jesus is reffered to as a Priest , he automatically fall into being a descendant of Aaron because of Exodus 28:1 which says:
“Have Aaron your brother brought to you from among the Israelites, along with his sons Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar, so they may serve me as priests.”
Secondly, According to Luke 1:36 Mary is a Cousin to Elizabeth the wife of Zachariah , Who is a descendant of Aaron According to Luke 1:5. which indicates Mary and Elizabeth Shared common Grand parents. and since according to Genealogy in Israelite culture Lineage comes through the fathers. Must Most Christians will refuse that and claim may be the Father of Mary was from the house of Judah and Hence making him a descendant of David.
BUT, Jesus Refuses the claims that he is a descendant of David, through Mary his mother when he asked in:
1. In Mark 12:35 “Why do the teachers of the law say that the Messiah is the son of David?
2. In Luke 20:41 “Why is it said that the Messiah is the son of David?
3. In Mathew “What do you think about the Messiah? Whose son is he?”
From those 3 Verses we, see Jesus asking the Pharisees the LINEAGE of the Messiah .
and in all three instance he gave the same answer
1. In mark 12:37 “David himself calls him ‘Lord.’ How then can he be his son?”
2. In Luke 20:44 “David calls him ‘Lord.’ How then can he be his son?”
3. In Mathew 22:45 “If then David calls him ‘Lord,’ how can he be his son?”
This Means that the Messiah CANNOT be the son of David. and therefore Mary is not From the House of David. BUT a Descendant of Aaron by the fact that.
1. Her son is a priest.
2. She is not a Descendant of Aaron. by the fact that the Messiah, her son Saying he is not from the House of David.
The impact of the statements of Jesus is Big , because if Jesus is the Messiah as described in the NT and the Quran , and he Jesus Proclaimed the Messiah is not from the house of David, then that implies.
1. All prophesies about a messiah coming from the House of David are false prophesies.
2. All the scriptures claiming the Messiah will come from the house of David are all Fabrications.
Remember Jeremiah 8:8
“‘How can you say, “We are wise,
for we have the law of the Lord,”
when actually the lying pen of the scribes
has handled it falsely?
