Hello All!
I hope you’re all doing well!
I just read a book with the title of my post.
The book postulates that Jesus was the grandson of Herod the Great (Anipater was the father of Jesus ) and that Mary was a member of the other Jewish royal family. Jesus was actually in the line of succession. Any thoughts about this?

Jesus then would have had some pull with the sons of Herod the Great?

He could have weighed on John the Baptist’s treatment?

He would have met with Agrippa I before the trial?

I remember what the book said about the Therapeutae vs the Essenes.

I believe that the author claims that the Sanhedrin went to Pilate for permission to execute Jesus, was that as a member of Herod’s family, he was a Roman citizen.

As a citizen he would have had the right to appeal not to Pilate but to Rome. And surely one could be a citizen in Roman Judea without being a member of the Herodian family.
