Is it possible to follow scribal work over the centuries as a head of the curve

“technology” where Marshall McLuhan’s dictum “the medium is message” may apply.

Has anyone made a study focused on the amount of control of inside information scribes had?

Is there a way to compare Silicon Valley superiority of “knowledge” with the information

control that scribes possessed?

I wonder if there were schools for scribes in the Jewish tradition just before the birth of christianity where some of their students would later become christian scribes or would early christianity still be in a oral mode of transmission back then?
