I am very curious to know what the Historical Jesus’s physical looks ware. I have watched documentaries, online suggesting that the Jesus of History was indeed Dark or Black, as in his (skin color). I would like to know if that is truly supported by the Historical truth of Jesus in a more scholarly view.
The Biblical or the Jesus of Christain faith has been portrayed and is still portrayed as a White male or a person of pale skin and long straight hair. However, the so-called Holily Bible, no matter what version, described Jesus as not a White male with pale skin and straight hair, but a person or male in this sense, as a person of Dark or Black skin in color, and hair as wool, in the Bible book (Daniel & Revelation).
I’m not a person of scholarly education, but one raised in the Christian faith. To be specific, a Jehovah’s Witness, which I am not anymore. We or I ware thought not to challenge anything from the Bible or anything of God’s reasoning. in this case, I speak for myself. I was thought to believe everything that comes from, or out of the Bible is TRUTH. Not that I believe everything I read on the internet, But the topic of the “Who the Historical Jesus Really Was”, is one the I have found interest in the last few months since I have been coming across these documentaries online. In fact, my quest for an answer leads me to your many debates online Dr.Ehrman.
I tried reading through the previous topic posted on the Historical Jesus, but after reading through for at least four hours, I did not find the answer I was looking for. So I was hoping if you, Dr, Erhman of anyone with scholarly knowledge, could please visit this topic, I will be most grateful, as I am for the many new knowledge I have come to acquire of the Historical Jesus. I am specifically referring to the physical looks or appearance of the Historical Jesus, not his work or life history. Let me be honest or specific with my question, Was Jesus White or Black??
Rather pedestrian otherwise, the 2016 Jesus film RISEN was distinctive in casting an ethnically appropriate looking actor to play the part of ** you do not have permission to see this link **. An actor born in New Zealand named Clifford Curtis.
Other factors to take into consideration include Jesus’ age. It’s probably a mistake to think of him like a thirty year old in 2020 where life expectancy is so much longer. In a world where most people didn’t make it past their 40th birthday Jesus would have been a fully mature adult, older looking I suspect than we would imagine. Life was hard.
And of course he would probably have been a head shorter than most adults today.

He was neither. As Captain Beefheart said, everyone’s coloured otherwise you wouldn’t be able to see them. So-called white people aren’t white, they’re greyish pink or beige. Chinese and Japanese people aren’t yellow, they’re cream-coloured. Native Americans are definitely not red. Most so-called black people are various shades of brown. I have seen people who are actually black but very seldom. I don’t like vagueness or imprecision, like classifying everyone in the world as either black or white. Please forgive me if what I have said causes offence. Thanks.

Two points
1 – Jesus looked like a Jew (not a gorgeous European Nordic warrior type)
2 – Jesus was not good looking to other Jews (it says in Isaiah “when we see him there is no beauty that we would desire him)
