There is no more fun story than the description of the actions of the church fathers in dealing with the problem of Jesus’ genealogy in the Gospels of Matthew and Luke. The ideas of Origen, Epiphanius and subsequent writers made me transfer the book from the laptop to the Kindel reader. It’s easier to wipe the screen than to pick a strawberry cake from the keyboard. What does “orchestra” mean in this context?

I never heard of these roles for Panthera.
It is Polish. Like Prince – vocal, drums, bass, piano, guitar done by one man. Epiphanius said that father of Joseph has a nickname Panthera. That was his solution for the rumor. The rest is in the book. You have problems with genealogies, David linaege, Celsus Origen, Epiphanus, virginity. It is very complex because all those problems are connected. You must read it.
The case of Panthera and his patristic career shows the mechanisms of creating an imaginary tradition. Nothing matters but promoting your own ideas. These ancient authors competed with each other in the field of content creation and sophisticated justification of their own ideas. They did not search for the historical truth. Jesus must have come from David’s line. Was it on the part of Józef? Is it on the part of Mary? And they ended up with such funny solutions. Mary and Joseph were relatives. Really?
This is a good benchmark for analysis. It all started with Luke and Matthew. These two genealogies were added after the publication of Diatessaron.
Look at the synoptic problem diagram from the publisher’s point of view. You see the same. The anonymous Gospel was owned by everyone. It’s a great product with no license fees. You could publish it, develop it as you wanted. Why did you do this instead of writing your own A to Z? Because the gospel has proven itself on the market, so there is no point in undermining it, just making money by producing its subsequent improved versions. You go to the client and say – Marcion has succeeded. And I have something better than Marcion and all your other competitors.
And so we ended up with 4 canonical gospels, 44 apocrypha, hundreds of letters from Paul, Jesus, Peter and all the rest of imaginary heroes taken from literature. What is literature? Pen, paper and human imagination

Michał Jerzy Wołodyjowski was the commander of the defense of the Kamieniec Podolski fortress during the Polish-Turkish war. When the gunpowder was running low, he reported it to his superiors and offered to surrender the fortress. The fortress surrendered and the crew retreated from it when the gunpowder magazine exploded due to the carelessness of the looters. The explosion killed Wołodyjowski and several dozen Polish soldiers.
Henryk Sienkiewicz changed that. His Hero swore in the church that he would not surrender the fortress and would sooner die in it. The superiors of the Hero betrayed the Homeland and surrendered the Fortress with their plots. The hero blew up the powder magazine himself.
The first version is known only to historians, the second version is known to all Poles, because the Trilogy is our national bible. Outstanding Polish writers of the epoch had enormous claims against Sienkiewicz for such tricks, especially for inflating Polish-Ukrainian hostile relations.
