I’m watching The Triumph of Christianity and loving it. And it seems like the decision to make Christianity appealing to gentiles by saying, “You don’t have to follow Jewish law even though it’s the same God that made the law” was brilliant marketing that also led to so much antisemitism. And inconsistency (was the God that sent his son WRONG about circumcision?).

I believe there’s a book as well (Triumph of Christianity) but I’ve been watching some Great Courses through Amazon Prime that has Bart Ehrman lectures on various topics including this plus The History of God. Great stuff. (But you have to subscribe to Great Courses on top of your Amazon Prime account.)

Hi bread is bread,
I recently visited a number of different denominations over the past couple of years to see how they were talking about Jesus and His teachings. To my amazement, I left feeling some of the denominations were actually more Jewish than Christian. I realise now, that many Christians have taken Jesus and His new wine, and poured it back into the old wine and stirred it all around to create a more complex maze, than the original Jewish one that Jesus tried to lead the Jews out of.
His teachings are a universal message about Divine Love as I see it, but the Old Testament Jewish God is seen by many, as being the exact same God Jesus is at one with and represents, in the New Testament. Generally I think He De-Jewified the Old Way Himself to lead them out of being entangled in a distorted dualistic understanding of God, but in 312 A.D Constantine dragged Jesus and the Divine Loving God of Jesus, back into the Old Wine dualistic God of the Jews by going to war in their name. And mainstream Christianity has been stuck there ever since. Judaeo-Christian. I have only ever felt I am a Christian. I just drink the new wine understanding and Way.
May The Divine Loving Creator bless Love wherever it is, and help it grow, until that’s all there is.
Christopher John Joseph.

What war are you referring to here? Are you referring to Constantine’s adopting the chi-rho as his standard at the Milvian Bridge?
