I’ve pondered before that the 40 Days of Temptations in the Wilderness was a later story thought up to explain a chronology problem between Mark and John over who were the FIRST apostles called.
The Little Liddel Greek-English lexicon defines a Satan as a much more extreme problem than a Diablo. A Satan is an enemy, someone who seeks to kill you. A Diablo is someone who falsely accuses you. In the story of Job, the Diablo doesn’t have the desire or power to kill Job. We should make a distinction between murder and lies.
