According to some authors, the existence of the four Gospels is not attested in any writings before Irenaeus, and hence they were most likely written in the second century.
Is this a good argument?

Of course, Justin Martyr talks about the “memoirs of the apostles”, but that is still a second century attestation.
Papias is quoted as referring to writings by Mark and Matthew, but these references do not match what we have in our NT.

You’d also need to deal with the quotations we get in Clement, Ignatius, possibly the Epistle of Barnabas, and the Didache’s use of Matthew’s version of the Lord’s prayer.
