
*Note: I’m using the plural “Bibles” since, according to biblegateway.com, there are over 50 English-language versions of “the Bible”, no two of which are identical.*
My question arises from this statement from Jesus: “Whatever you ask for in prayer with faith, you will receive.” (Matt 21:22 NRSVUE)
So why can’t Christians (or at least the Protestant denominations) simply pray for answers to any and all questions they have (at least with respect to questions of morality and theology)?

In fact it’s not really a book, but a library, filled with many different books written by many different people with lots of different questions, each of which can and has been answered in different ways.
Yes, that’s exactly what it is.
What a liberating feeling no longer having the need to make everything fit together as if it were a giant jigsaw puzzle, but allowing each text to have its own voice.
