It asked everybody else too. Nobody else bothered to say. Clearly not required. And since there are in fact multiple towns named Princeton (33 according to a quick search I just did)–why not include the state?
What is your profession, Robert?
And why didn’t you just let it go, when I walked out? You could have stuck to the subject, but as always, you made it personal.

Not lied. Implied.
And yeah, you made it personal right from the start. But granted, in a charmingly passive-aggressive way.
You see this as being your special place to get away from your hundrum daily existence. Okay. I can respect that.
But might I suggest a blog? Since that actually would be yours?
Irony strikes again–your real profession is actually far more relevant to most people right now than your fake one. 😉

Translation: You get a vicarious sense of scholarly empowerment through Bart, for twenty five bucks a year. Wonderful.
If you didn’t find my ‘implications’ credible (of course you made no specific claims, that was the whole point), you’d hardly have bothered to respond, would you now? I just pointed out an oddity about your posting ID, and the best response would have probably been to just edit it. Bit late now.
It’s over, Robert. Bye. This time for good. I’ll discuss Bart’s book on the main blog. I’d say it’s been real, except of course none of it was.

Um–I do remember this exchange. In fact, I cited it. On this thread. Today. Because it backs up what I’m saying. You did not tell us what you do for a living, until today. And when I asked if you’d like to tell us what you do, you said ‘Never’. Well, ‘never’ is obviously not a meaningful word here. 🙄
I didn’t use the word ‘claim’–nor did I make any statement as to you being specific I was saying quite the opposite of that. Your vagueness was the whole point of the enterprise. Now you say you never meant for people to draw that conclusion. Okay. Let’s say I believe that.
Will you believe me when I say I never had the slightest intention of saying you made ‘false specific claims’? Because for me to have done that, I would have had to be a lot more specific than ‘scholar’–there are such things as amateur scholars, after all. Time was that was a fine avocation for a gentleman of leisure.
Which neither of us are, and I have actual work to do. In realspace. Though my boss says he’s going to try and figure out some way I can come in less often for a few weeks. Huzzah.
(Your complete lack of interest in acknowledging the existence of a medical crisis, when medicine is something you are peripherally involved in–honestly, the mind boggles.)
