If by “pick” you mean which gospel would we choose if we could only have one, then I agree with Robert about Mark. Read as a standalone, as it would have been for decades, it is certainly unique. Even though you can certainly see why the authors of Matthew and Luke were dissatisfied with it. (We can intuit this dissatisfaction from the way they treated the text.)

But imagine how different Christianity would be if all we had was Mark! I try to imagine it. A personal fantasy would be for someone to produce a movie that followed Mark exactly as written. It would immediately become the most controversial Jesus movie ever made!
