The Christian Savior being Jesus is about Jesus coming to save the Jews first.

Matthew 15: 24
He answered, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”

Jesus as the Son of Man/Son of God and the glorious kingdom of the Son of Man should not have been upstaged by Vespasian.

“The people waited for Vespasian with heartfelt-joy and satisfaction.”
Jewish Wars 7:63-64

The Purpose/Significance of the Gospels Was the Destruction of Jerusalem

James A. Wilde – PhD dissertation
Werner Kelber – author of Mark’s Story of Jesus (1979)
Ched Myers – author of Binding the Strong Man

Since its publication in 1988, Binding the Strong Man has been widely recognized as a landmark in contemporary biblical criticism. Applying a multidisciplinary approach called “socio-literary method,” Myers integrates literary criticism, socio-historical exegesis, and political hermeneutics in his investigation of Mark as a “manifesto of radical discipleship.”

How well did Jesus and his disciples save Jerusalem first?
What disciples preached Jesus’ teachings at the outbreak of the Jewish Revolt?

Who in Galilee remembered Jesus as not being an opponent to paying taxes to Rome?
Who in Galilee (including Agrippa II) remembered Pilate found no fault in him, therefore let Vespasian find no fault in us?
Did Josephus who wrote the Testimonium Flavianum (or parts of it) remember this when he spoke to the rebels?

The Christian Savior being Jesus is about Jesus coming to save the Jews first.

What Jesus did for others, he surely do for you.

(He surely will not do for you what he didn’t do for his own people.)

= = =

What would Jesus have said when Jesus of Gamala (Galilee) spoke to the Idumeans?

What would the biblical Jesus have said differently from what Jesus of Gamala said?

Listen:

Jesus of Gamala called the rebels vile and wicked.

[Yes, Jesus would have betrayed Jerusalem to the Romans. We should not have revolted against the Romans in the first place.
Oh, let’s revolt, attack Legion Fulminata XII, and say, that was a mistake–you be the empire and we will be one of your client kingdoms.
We’ll pay taxes, accept offerings from Gentiles.]

Now, Rome has come down to cleanse one of its kingdoms of uprisings. The clean-up has started in my Galilee.
We showed courage, now default on that? Even I would reproach that cowardice.

I would have preferred peace with Rome instead of death.
I prefer death with reputation of courage than life without the reputation of courage, without captivity under them.

Vespasian wasn’t only a savior putting down the Jewish Civil WAr.
He was savior for putting down the civil wars in Rome, in the year of four Caesars/Emperors.

Before Vespasian was considered savior for bringing salvation during the Jewish Civil War and the Roman Civil War (year of Four Emperors), Caesar Augustus was a Savior who put an end to the Civil War of his day (after Julius Caesar was killed).
