If Joseph in Matthew 2:13 had not acted on the message the Angel had given him in his dream, what might have been the difference in the story of Jesus? Might we just have another story, one made up to satisfy the objective? I believe in having good values, love and peace subscribed in the gospels, but to threaten our existence with not swallowing the story is hard to accept.

What do you mean by “swallow the story” ? Could you be “swallowing the story” of our Postmodern revisionists who theorize that the Gospel story (both Old and New Testaments) is a fabrication?

This experience, ‘planet earth’ is amazing. The creativity and imagination of an Devine author of this story earth is beyond comprehension but there are rules and laws to this sphere. Should our time here best be spent embracing the magnificence of it all? The natural order which exists we did not put into motion. When the life expectancy of our humanity on this planet is complete, the only real legacy humans can really acclaim will be did we improved upon our highest order of decency, love, compassion and positive values towards each other.
Since I recognize we are responding to a book, the Bible, whose authors are many and whose words we were taught to be infallible. When there is a crack in the information it should be challenged. I grew up believing it to be the ultimate word unquestioned. Life’s experiences have taught us things which makes it imperative we have another look.
If there is a chance that Joseph had not acted upon the dream the whole narrative of the story changes. If one is to follow the story throughout for all the examples of how the New Testament was predicted by the Old Testament one then might believe Joseph could not have made a choice to ignore. Were that the case then the whole story of humanity has been predicted beginning to end and we have all just become ‘somethings’ entertainment without choices. We could actually then have been spared the teaching of a heaven or hell. From this there are so many more questions that also generate questions.
What makes the story of Jesus most interesting is that it would require a God who established the Laws of nature, to break His own Laws in producing a human being Jesus in any other way than natures way. This then begs the question, just what makes Jesus any more Godly, aside of its story appeal that his story is the only acceptable one?
