I’ve challenged a proponent of ‘biblical inerrancy’ to take Ehrman’s challenge on reconciling the gospels resurection accounts. I’m taking the challenge myself and have come across something puzzling. Often proponents of inerrancy will claim the accounts simply differ in details. For example how many women went to the tomb? In mark its 3, in Matthew its 2, in Luke its unspecified, in John its one. Does the fact that Luke initially states that the women just told the apostles in 24:10-12, then in verse 24 indicates that the apostles were accompanied by other disciples (at least cleopas), lend credence to this idea? Not only that but in the same verses we see Peter described as running to the tomb, presumably alone as there is no mention of anyone else, only again in verse 24 we get indication that peter was not alone after all. Anyone any ideas?
