Luke 23: 26–it was not Jesus who bore the cross, it was Simon.
Double Check:
Mark 15: 21-22 cross carried by Simon, do not see written Jesus carrying the cross
Matthew 27: 32 cross carried by Simon, do not see written Jesus carrying the cross
Luke 23: 26 cross carried by Simon, do not see written Jesus carrying the cross
John 19: 17 Jesus carried the cross all the way

I looked at verse 25 which when read with verse 26 tells us Jesus did not start with carrying the cross but Simon of Cyrene started and went all the way.
11And even Herod and his soldiers ridiculed and mocked Him. Dressing Him in a fine robe, they sent Him back to Pilate
Chapter 23 does not give us the Mel Gibson version and it does not give us the Stages of the Cross depicted in stained glass in so many great churches.
Verse 11 puts the mockery and ridicule on Herod and his soldiers, not on Roman soldiers.
At first I was going to say Simon carried the cross for Jesus because Jesus was whipped so badly, but Luke does not give us a whipping in Chapter 23. Luke does not give us the miracles of the Via Dolarosa.

Coming from 40+ years evangelical fundamental Christianity I would suggest most fundamentalist would say these are not inconsistencies but simply Independent separate events recorded by different people as they saw it. It all happened just as it is recorded.
I also have a question. Why would Pilate care if Jesus of Nazareth, was the King of the Jews. And understand Pilate putting Jesus to death for trying to overthrow the Roman government and authority. But I do not see that Jesus was charged for trying to overthrow the Roman government violently.

Most fundamentalists are simply in error for 40+ years.
Separate events? How many times did Jesus walk to his crucifixion? Twice? One with him carrying the cross and one with Simon carrying the cross?
It all did not happen just as it is written in the Synoptics vs John.
