Mark 10: 32-45
The sermon was about the need to listen.
We’re going to Jerusalem where I am going to be handed over to evil men and I will be killed.
James and John (not listening, consumed with their own stuff, having ears, did not hear):
When we get to Jerusalem and you come into your kingdom, can we sit on either side of you?
So, Jesus’ disciples did not really think Jesus was God of the world. Jesus’ Kingdom of God was not as large as the Roman Empire and was not as large as the Parthian Empire, and not as large as both of these Empires put together. The Hebrew scriptures speak of visitors coming to Jerusalem and being inspired by the god of the Jews. In fact, Jesus’ “cabinet” was his disciples only over the 12 tribes of Israel.

How does one get from Jesus’ scope of Israel, scope-creeping to the Roman Empire, the Parthian Empire, and beyond?
Missionaries to the Gentiles.
But it’s one thing to sell Gentiles a notion of God.
It is another thing for that God to inherently be more than a local god.
Sell a local god as more than what that god is and people are mis-educated.
