earlier jesus said :
He said to him, “Which ones?” And Jesus said, “You shall not murder. You shall not commit adultery. You shall not steal. You shall not bear false witness. 19 Honor your father and mother. Also, you shall love your neighbor as yourself.” 20 The young man said to him, “I have kept all these;[** you do not have permission to see this link **] to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; then come, follow me.” 22 When the young man heard this word, he went away grieving, for he had many possessions.
if matthew is supposed to be the most jewish gospel, how is it that you can honour your biological parents if you have abadoned them to join jesus’ spiritual family?
is leaving biological family a required condition in order to receive great reward such as eternal life or it isn’t ?

Jesus was definitely not the family values guy Christian’s tout. He said to the man who told him he couldn’t go with him because his father was being buried, “Let the dead bury the dead.” Which, by the way, is one of Jesus’ most sarcastic and funny lines, in my opinion. The people of ritual are dead, it doesn’t matter, they’re doing a meaningless act, which anyone who’s stood in a graveyard and listened to a priest or pastor recite some passage from the Bible knows is true. Unless… you put stock in ritual, in which case, you’d be dead to Jesus, since you weren’t experiencing the “life breath,” or as it’s terribly translated, the holy spirit. When Jesus’ family came to see him, and he was inside a house talking to his followers and students, he was told they were outside, and he said, paraphrasing, ‘you who are here listening to me are my family.’ If you were part of the movement and truly understood and followed what he said, then you’d have great reward. The whole idea was to leave behind all the attachments to the world and live only in the moment of the life breath. This was a spiritual awakening, a condition of joy, insight and spontaneous compassion. Staying home to be a faithful son or daughter wasn’t honoring your parents, to Jesus. To be alive in the life breath was honoring God and life itself, and if your parents could accept that and follow Jesus, what greater honor could you do them? Jesus was laying out a new paradigm of how to live, and that was it, pretty much. You couldn’t be halfway with it.

16 Then someone came to him and said, “Teacher, what good deed must I do to have eternal life?”
answer :There is one who is good. If you wish to enter into life, keep the commandments.” 18 He said to him, “Which ones?” And Jesus said, “You shall not murder. You shall not commit adultery. You shall not steal. You shall not bear false witness. 19 Honor your father and mother
he is making honouring biological parents part of the commandments .
edit to add :

in others words you are helping or honouring your parents if you leave them for jesus? parents who are dependant on you , then tough luck?

I am simply amazed at the amount of time and effort that has apparently been spent intentionally misreading texts. I will repeat once again that communication is complicated. For communication, it is hard enough to get an idea across to someone who is really inclined to try to understand, without adding the burden of trying to anticipate someone willfully trying not to understand.
