Ptah was believed to have created the world and everything in it by speaking things into existence, similar to a concept of creation by divine word. This made him not only a god of craftsmanship but also a cosmic creator, involved in the birth of the universe. In the Memphite Theology, Ptah was said to have conceived the world in his mind and brought it to life through his speech.
