Just need some confirmation and maybe clarity on the following:
From what I can gather (in doing my own research), the modern day Serpent’s Seed doctrine (as preached by William Branham and some others) can be traced to the teachings of the Sethian and Ophite Gnostics and as such was rejected by Irenaeus.
As far as I know, Irenaeus did not reject the Serpent’s Seed Doctrine per se, but rather rejected a tenet of the doctrine that states that the original sin was an act of adultery by Eve. I suppose the Doctrine is defeated by that in any case…..
