I just watched on You Tube debate/discussion featuring Shelly Kagan and NT Wright just a few hours ago. Near the end of the discussion, Shelly Kagan mentions that he doesn’t agree with the teachings of Jesus. Unfortunately, Kagan and NT Wright did not elaborate on that point.
But I wonder if anyone knows which specific teachings attributed to Jesus in the Gospels Kagan disagrees with. As for me, I disagree with “Do not resist an evil doer.” I think that we should resist evil doers so long as they fit a stringent and well thought out definition.
Any guesses as to what Kagan’s views are? What are your views on Jesus’s teaches or Jesus’s alleged teachings, separating out the historical Jesus from the one depicted in the Gospels.
