I don’t see anything else in your post relevant to the question of whether the women were fleeing from what was in the tomb or fleeing from what was outside the tomb. I don’t think there’s any objections left unresponded to.
Mark may have had his own characteristic style, as everyone else does, but there’s nothing peculiar in his use of participles.

I neglected to point out that if we interpret Mark’s image of the Empty Tomb aniconically, it demonstrates why there was no need for resurrection appearances and supports the idea that 16:8 was the original ending.
Once again, it you go through the Gospel of Mark and note every instance where someone manifests fear then the response of the women at the tomb will not seem nearly so baffling.
