I’m currently reading Armageddon. I’m thoroughly enjoying it, by the way. It seems as if the author of Revelation has a bone to pick with authority figures. It seems as if he wants to ensure that if he gets caught writing the book, no one could tell who he was writing about. Was the author John the disciple? If so, why was his life spared? The other disciples did not fare so well. My question is, who was the Pope during this time frame, assuming there was even such a title back then? At times, Catholicism and Rome were joined at the hip, and I’m wondering if the author was mad at both the “Pope” (Early Church leader) and Rome? This would explain why his life was spared and why he wrote in such a mystic format. In other words, was the first real “Pope” (Early Church Leader) selected by Rome around this time frame to control the church and do you think that’s what had the author of Revelation upset?
