Bart says that they didn’t need him to locate Jesus. Judas earned his money by disclosing something that only the disciples knew – that Jesus had revealed that he was the King of the Jews and that challenged the authority of Rome, which is why he was crucified. Furthermore, Bart thinks that the executioners nailed something to the effect of INRI onto the cross as an ironic insult.

Of course non of that excludes Judas from being directly involved in the arrest.  There are probably any number of scenarios that can put Judas on the scene even to identify the person to be arrested.
