Hello,
Can anyone direct me to any good ideas or writings about the sources or motivations for Luke’s “Ethiopian eunuch” story in Acts chapter 8? Are there any parallels to it in other literature, for example?
What is the significance of the character being a eunuch here, when a non-castrated individual could just as easily have played the same role? Given the major role the Holy Spirit is being made to play here — in causing Philip to take what seem like arbitrary actions — my guess is that this is not historical. But why invent such a story?
Thanks,
Omar
