I’ve been to both the cathedral and the basilica.
Is our Savior Jesus Christ losing? ? ?
Jesus let the Temple of Jerusalem be destroyed
The living Jesus Christ is King is losing the place where Notre Dame and Sacred Heart Basilica is?
Our Savior Jesus Christ cannot save Western Civilization / Christian Western Civilization?
We pray to God in the name of Jesus Christ and this happens?
The Living Jesus Christ, Son of Man, Ruler of the Kingdom of Righteousness from Ancient Israel permits what’s happening in Gaza?

What happened in Paris, France below could not happen in the United States, Right?

Before watching the sacrilege, see what touropia calls the 12 most beautiful churches in France and, with me, ask how can we go from this architectural holiness to a state-sanctioned parade of anything but Christ:

How the mighty [French Christians] have fallen !

I can say there was so much pride in Christianity when a teenage Christian saw the mighty churches of Paris (and the churches in France outside of Paris.)

Rayonnant Gothic (learn something new every day)

This could be in the Religious Works of Art thread.

But wow. That video was like a great travel vacation.

I choose to stand with sacred architecture.

This next video makes me wish I had kept a travel journal with the names of the other churches I visited in Paris other than Our Lady and Sacred Heart.

I love the idea of the Minotaur becoming the protector.

As for Ariadne becoming a spider, it makes a great deal of sense.

I’ve always liked the expression “ο μίτος της Αριάδνης” (the ** you do not have permission to see this link ** of Ariadne)  – that which leads to the solution of a problem.

I did some searching and saw ** you do not have permission to see this link **

Quite the spectacle.

Thanks for mentioning the myth of ** you do not have permission to see this link **– I don’t think I’ve heard of it before.

Interesting stuff.

Ι haven’t had a chance to look at ** you do not have permission to see this link ** but perhaps it may have some insights into Lilith.

As I’ve commented before I grew up in a very conservative time warp, not just religiously but culturally as well.  I was taught Latin in a public Junior High School!   And even with all the fundamentalism we were soaked in the classical tradition, reading the Greek and Roman myths.  So I’m a bit sad that this stuff is vanishing from our educational system. Classics departments in universities are vanishing everywhere.  Of course Consumers don’t need culture.  It might lead to considerations unwelcome in the marketplace.

Steefen thanks for the video.  Such Christian apologists/influencers, with their simple uncomplicated expressions, are enormously entertaining. They’re almost post-modernists. The presentation is both itself and its own parody.  No sense of irony or ironic distance; nary a wink or knowing smirk that so spoils the work of their secular counterparts.   And absolutely no sense of humor whatsoever.  If these folks ever do disappear our cultural discourse will be diminished.

Of course Shane and his ilk might win the day.  We must not assume that reason and sophistication and perception have long term survival value.  I won’t get political except to point out that in our nation today the forces of stupidity and unreason are being encouraged at the very highest levels.

The Compagnie La Machine has brought their spectacular show/parade to Paris, notably with the “Machine de l’Île” creations in events like the 2013 “The «Générale>>” (part of the Nuit Blanche festival), featuring their famous giant spider, La Princesse, in a procession through Paris streets, captivating crowds with these unique, large-scale mechanical performances.

Key Paris Appearances:

  • Nuit Blanche 2013: La Machine’s giant spider, La Princesse, took over the streets of Paris, interacting with the city and its inhabitants, drawing massive crowds in a memorable nocturnal spectacle.
  • Other Events: While Toulouse and Liverpool are famous for their La Machine shows, Paris has hosted the company for special, large-scale events showcasing their incredible mechanical puppets.
So, yes, they’ve had significant parades and street performances in Paris, transforming the urban landscape with their fantastical creations.

The most recent large-scale Compagnie La Machine street parade was in October 2024 in Toulouse, France, featuring the giant scorpion-human creature, Lilith, for a new show, following previous major events like the Dragon of Calais in 2019 and the Minotaur in Toulouse in 2018.

Key Details:

  • When: Late October 2024 (around October 26-28).
  • Where: Toulouse, France.
  • What: A new show featuring giant puppets, including the creature Lilith (a human-scorpion).

Toulouse – the heart of southwest France
** you do not have permission to see this link **

Saint Sernin is in Toulouse.

Saint Sernin (or Saturninus) was the first bishop of Toulouse, France, a missionary “Apostle to the Gauls,” martyred around 250 AD by being dragged to death by a bull; he is honored by the massive, famous ** you do not have permission to see this link **

Saint-Aubin (Église Saint-Aubin) is a large, distinctive church in Toulouse, known for its unusual 19th-century architecture blending Gothic, Romanesque, and Byzantine styles, built on a former cemetery and notable for remaining unfinished without a bell tower, located in the Saint-Aubin-Dupuy district.

(Saint Aubin was from Angers.)

Well, I’m glad Robert mentioned Toulouse. Thank you Robert.

Parts of Toulouse reminds me the French Quarter in New Orleans.

Well, is there anything demonic about the Compagnie La Machine street parades?

Yes, one particular urban opera by the company, titled The Guardian of the Temple – The Gate of Darkness, sparked significant controversy, with some Christian community representatives condemning its use of “satanic” and “hell imagery”.

The Catholic Archbishop of Toulouse, Guy de Kerimel, expressed serious concern and decided to consecrate the city and diocese to the Sacred Heart of Jesus to protect it from what he called “dark threats”. Protestant representatives also voiced their disapproval of the themes.

Steefen:
Thank you.

Is our Savior Jesus Christ losing? ? ?

Jesus, Son of Man, let the Temple of Jerusalem be destroyed.

We pray to God in the name of Jesus Christ and this happens?

Jesus, Son of Man, Ruler of the Kingdom of Righteousness from Ancient Israel let happen: U.S. Slavery, The Trail of Tears [of Native Americans], World War I, World War II, the JFK Assassination, the MLK Assassination, the Vietnam War, 9/11, the early 2020s injections, Gaza; let Ukraine become corrupt, let the casualties and deaths in Ukraine rise as high as it has?

Jesus is King and Commander-in Chief?

Bart has said Jesus was not a political leader.
Apparently not.

I’ve said Jesus was a composite figure of historical fiction.

I’ve said Jesus was a false prophet.

Jesus is king for only 1,000 years? We’re living after the thousand years’ Kingdom of Righteousness/Heaven/God?

Now that those 1,000 years from “You will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of glory” until 1,070, CE have passed, what is supposed to happen now, Jesus, what is supposed to happen now, Book of Revelaton, what is supposed to happen now, Holy Bible?

Obviously, the goodness of a thousand years has not continued to flow from its momentum.

Steefen, I’d appreciate if you’d help me understand the point of your last post.

I’m also confused as to why you consider what we saw in Toulouse as sacrilege since you see Jesus as a false prophet.

I’ve said Jesus was a composite figure of historical fiction.

Obviously, these are long-held views as we can see from ** you do not have permission to see this link **2013 exchange.

In all that time, have you been able to convince anyone of this? If not, why do you suppose that is?

BJH,

You need help understanding post 16 ?

Okay: The Son of Man was delegated to judge humankind and preside over the Kingdom of Righteousness.

Second,

You need help understanding why the parades are an offense to Christianity.

The answer to that is in the original video posted. Also see Post 13.

Third, my book is researched. You can see the origins of the arguments presented from the books I’ve quoted.

Steefen, yes, I need help understanding. Is that a bad thing?

I, like Robert, assumed your questions were ridiculing that perspective. Were they not?

Do you consider it a sacrilege or are you just saying it’s a sacrilege to Christians? (Correct me if I’m wrong, but I’m assuming you don’t see yourself as a Christian.)

For more than a decade, you’ve talked about Jesus being a composite figure of historical fiction. In all that time, have you been able to convince anyone of this? If not, why do you suppose that is?
