if the christian apologist says that 500 people had visions of jesus, then according to matthew “some doubted”
the question is how many is “some” from 500?
he says
After that He was seen by over five hundred brethren at once, of whom the greater part remain to the present, but some have fallen asleep.
who is he getting the 500 hundred from? who is he hearing it from?

Not sure but I think the some doubted is not tied to the 500. Since there is just one source talking about the 500 (along with other problems), it is not considered reliable.

15 In those days Peter stood up among the believers (a group numbering about a hundred and twenty) 16 and said, “Brothers and sisters,[** you do not have permission to see this link **] the Scripture had to be fulfilled in which the Holy Spirit spoke long ago through David concerning Judas, who served as guide for those who arrested Jesus. 17 He was one of our number and shared in our ministry.”
is this the only christian believing group which numbered 120?

What the HECK does that have to do with the 500!? This is CLEARLY not the same group.

The gospels deal to some extent with “doubt” – Matt 28:17, John 20:24-29, Luke 24:37-42, all from various perspectives. In Mark a kind of disbelief or failure to understand is implied. I suppose these gospel elements are addressing “doubt” in the communities at the time they were written. As for the 500, it probably refer to the complete early community, in which it quickly became politically incorrect to not have had a vision.

Ehrman suggests some of the earliest Christians doubted that Jesus was revived from the dead

The early communities probably had to deal with doubt and doubters all the way up to the time of the writing of the Gospels. These mostly put doubters in a bad light but admits that they exist at the core of the movement. I think John 20:29 clearly reflects a problem facing missionaries/preachers late in the first century.

Google E. Margaret Howe, “… But Some Doubted.” (Matt. 28:17), A Re-Appraisal Of the Factors Influencing the Easter Faith of the Early Christian Community.” It is an interesting article dealing with the issue of “doubt.”
Thanks, LS
This is interesting. So far it seems that while we read some doubted as Some disciples were skeptical of the resurrection, it seems EM
is arguing that the proper view is some hesitated to worship
