Looks like I’ll be looking at this verse all day long.

The first word οιδαμεν might be a medical word from οιδανω

Our swellings, sickness, pain

But, I doubt it. As an active voice plural verb: We cause swelling, pain, tumors; it all sounds like blackmagic occult stuff. 👎 That’s quite opposite to traditional Catholic theology.

ειδω somehow becomes ιοδα

To know from seeing.

“God works for the good of those who love him” might be interpreted as,
‘God works _only_ ‘for the good of those who love him.”
‘If you love me, I will love you back.’

“in all things God works together with those who love him to bring about what is good” might be interpreted as,
‘In all things God works together with those who love him to bring about what is good _for everybody_.’

I’m stuck on distinguishing only one specific Voice and Tense of the verb αγαπωσιν.

According to grammar chart I have (ISBN 978-0-310-26294-7) ωσιν is subjunctive mood, 3rd person plural, active voice present tense or 2nd aorist, 1st and 2nd aorist passive voice, present active voice present 1st aorist 2nd aorist.

I think it means maybe all three Voices and both present and past tense. But probably only the active and passive voice. 😬

The action of the verb can go to both the Nominative case and Accusative case. Either way through active and passive voice.

Yes, I see that, the former, as Indicative Mood-present tense-active voice-contract verb, as one option.

But I don’t know understand what exactly rules out, the latter, as Subjunctive Mood-present active voice-or 2nd aorist passive voice.

Whenever I see a prefix οι, οιδαμεν, ειδομεν I think of emotions, wish-fullness and Optative mood. The optative mood can be similar in meaning to the subjunctive mood which are both not the indicative mood.

and the rest of the verse is a summary of the Book of Job.

οτι is a nominative case, neuter, singular, Indefinite Relative (could be nominative or accusative)

That’s what the grammar chart says 🤷‍♂️

οτι : whoever, whatever

οιδαμεν δε οτι
We know whoever, whatever

τοις αγαπωσιν
they love

τον Θεον παντα συνεργει εις αγαθον

the God everything together-working (by him:God) for good
παντα συνεργει τον Θεον εις αγαθον
everything working together by God for good.

We know whatever, whoever;
they love everything working together by God for good.

That’s as far as I’ve gotten so far. 😓

τον Θεον παντα συνεργει εις αγαθον
(Every word in the accusative case and preposition with accusative case: of purpose and reason: “for”)

The nominative phrase “knows” the accusative phrase, and the accusative phrase goes to the dative phrase. (Active voice direction)

We know
everything working together by God for good
goes to love

Are you reading a different interpretation in the Peshita: Aramaic?

I talked to a fellow truck driver at a shipper a month ago who spoke Syriac, Aramaic, but only as a sacred language spoken in church services. I’m not sure if he was Christian or Muslim or Jewish. I didn’t ask.
