Is there a missing section in Romans?

The end of Chapter 1 and the beginning of Chapter 2 of Romans just don’t make sense to me.

By the New International Version, Romans:

1:28 Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done.
29 They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips,
30 slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents;

31 they have no understanding, no fidelity, no love, no mercy.
32 Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.

2:1 You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge another, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things.
2 Now we know that God’s judgment against those who do such things is based on truth.
3 So when you, a mere human being, pass judgment on them and yet do the same things, do you think you will escape God’s judgment?
4 Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, forbearance and patience, not realizing that God’s kindness is intended to lead you to repentance?

So, first Paul excels in degrading statements about godless people, listing their faults in an almost comical way, being judgmental in the extreme. But then he immediately condemns everyone who passes judgements on others! Such persons condemn themselves, because they do the same things as those they pass judgments on, writes Paul.
To me, this doesn’t make sense at all. The logical consequence of this is that Paul condemns himself, by first passing judgments on people, and then condemning those who do so!

I wonder, therefore, if there might have been a missing section between Chapters 1 and 2, linking these two parts together and making them seem less contradictory. This section might have been lost before the epistle was included in the New Testament canon.

This missing section might perhaps have looked something like this:

“But don’t think you are better than them! We are all sinners. We inherited the original sin from our Father Adam, and therefore we also do evil things all the time. You do, I do, every human being does. This is inherent in our nature and we cannot avoid it. We are therefore not in any way better than all the godless people. We are as wicked as they are.”

Since, in this hypothetical section, Paul hints that he doesn’t really condemn the godless people more than he condemns himself, this makes the passage from Chapter 1 to Chapter 2 less abrupt and more logical.

Do you think that there could have been such a missing section?

I think the simplest explanation is that Paul was a hypocrite.
