THere was a brief flirtation with homeopathy until that unfortunate explosion in the lab.

You two disagree with the Bible and the books of Enoch?

What other giants are mentioned in the Bible?

Og, king of Bashan (Deuteronomy 3:11; Joshua 12:4, 13:12),

Goliath (1 Samuel 17:4),

Ishbibenob (2 Samuel 21:16),

Saph (2 Samuel 21:18), and Lahmi, Goliath’s brother (2 Chronicles 20:5).

The Bible mentions these giants because the heroes of Israel slay them and show God’s hand in their battles.

The topic is skeletons of giants.

Bart says look for multiple attestation: so, we have giants in the Hebrew Bible and in the books of Enoch.

Really.

I totally disagree. He used multiple attestation with the gospels in Did Jesus Exist? and I was not impressed.

And who goes to a museum of natural history and says the skeletons did not come from real living beings.

Hundreds of thousands of visitors have seen the allosaurus and Barosaurus in the Theodore Roosevelt Rotunda at the American Museum of Natural History.

You and Stephen want to ignore science at the price of credibility.

“nefarious plot to make the world’s population sick and weak”
Charles Darwin:
In Sparta, also, a form of selection was followed, for it was enacted that all children should be examined shortly after birth; the well-formed and vigorous being preserved, the others left to perish.*(3)

Do you disagree with any of this?:

_The Descent of Man_ by Charles Darwin

With savages, the weak in body or mind are soon eliminated ; and those that survive commonly exhibit a vigorous state of health.
We civilised men, on the other hand, do our utmost to check the process of elimination ; we build asylums for the imbecile, the maimed, and the sick ; we institute poor-laws ; and our medical men exert their utmost skill to save the life of every one to the last moment.
There is reason to believe that vaccination has preserved thousands who from a weak constitution would formerly have succumbed to small-pox.
Thus the weak members of civilised societies propagate their kind.
No one who has attended to the breeding of domestic animals will doubt that this must be highly injurious to the race of man.

Giants are not just in the Hebrew literature of the Hebrew Bible and the Books of Enoch.

The major sources of myths related to giants are Greek mythology, Norse mythology , and the various myths of the American Indian tribes, though other cultures also have examples of giants that appear in legend from time to time.

Encylopedia.com

Some examples of notable mythological giants are the Jotun in Norse mythology, the Gigantes in Greek mythology, and the Daityas in Hindu mythology. These giants were powerful and wise, but also vicious and warlike.

In Sumerian texts, the Anunnaki while commonly being associated with gods or angels, are also said to have been giants. This is very interesting because there is a race of giants mentioned in the bible called the Anakites from which Goliath descends.

Who is Yahweh’s father?

El was the supreme god of the Canaanites. As head god, El was married to Ashera, and he was the father of

El was often seen in the form of a bull, and he was sometimes also referred to as Shor-El, the bull god.

While I agree that a cellphone is frequently a pain in the a**, I must counsel you folks against revealing Illuminati secrets. We – uh, I mean – They don’t like that.

Do you disagree with any of this?

I agree that Darwin shared many of the lamentable prejudices of his age. But rather than feeling morally superior we should instead ask ourselves how our descendants will think of us? “We civilized men” knew about climate change, what will happen, and WE DID NOTHING.

Two of my own favorite whimsical classics of sorcery and enchantment are

** you do not have permission to see this link ** by Louis Pauwels and Jacques Bergier.

Pauwels and Bergier were French journalists, creating what they called an alternative, “poetic” history of Western thought. Published in 1961, this book is the fountainhead, the source-book of all the occultic tropes that seized the imagination of the sixties cultural revolution. It’s all here – Occult Nazis, ancient astronauts, the mystical bloodline of Jesus, secret societies and UFOs. This book also revived interest in the work of Charles Fort and the Russian mystic Gurdjieff. They write with a twinkle of wonder in their eyes, neither mocking nor credulous. (These foolish Europeans assumed their audience would be as sophisticated as they.) Inevitably this delightful work was drowned out by all the dullards and duffers that came later.

and

** you do not have permission to see this link ** by Richard Cavdendish.

Cavendish was an Oxford historian who wrote an absolutely wonderful popular history of the the Occult in the West. This is an aspect of history that is seldom approached by mainstream academics for obvious reasons. Cavendish has the rare ability to consider an idea, even delight in it, without falling for it.

While we’re on the subject of the outre, I also happen to collect Tarot Cards. Their symbology and cultural history is beautiful and fascinating. (For some reason this always surprises people. I just prefer real mysteries to phony mysteries. That’s all.)
